In an article published in PopSugar, Your Place or Mine actor Ashton Kutcher discussed his experiences with vasculitis after fans scrutinized his mannerisms at a recent red-carpet event to promote the new movie. Mr. Kutcher explained that the condition initially left him unable to see, walk, and hear in one ear. In previous interviews, the actor revealed that his recovery time lasted about 1 year and that he still suffers impairments from further flare-ups. Experts noted that vasculitis may result in thickened vessel walls and reduced blood flow, which can adversely affect the organs and cause tissue damage. Individuals who experience symptoms such as fevers, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, sudden hearing loss, temporary or permanent blindness, weight loss, weakening in the hands and feet, and joint and muscle pain were advised to visit a rheumatologist who may prescribe corticosteroids or recommend surgery. “You don’t appreciate it until it’s gone—until you go, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to see, [hear, or walk] again,’” Mr. Kutcher concluded.
