The virtual rheumatology clinic Remission Medical announced a new know-how agreement with the Mayo Clinic in an effort to shorten the period between diagnosis and treatment for patients with rheumatic diseases. The new agreement will foster the continued development of Remission Medical’s novel Time to Treatment Initiation algorithms—which are designed to triage patients; categorically score them on the basis of their disease activity; ensure that they are referred to the appropriate specialists; predict disease progression; and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and procedures. The algorithms will also partially factor in patient-reported outcomes, electronic medical records, comorbidities, and additional treatments not related to their rheumatic diseases. “Remission Medical’s mission is to both improve access to care and improve the care overall for patients [with rheumatic diseases] from onset to remission,” concluded Blake Wehman, MHA, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Remission Medical.
