According to the Lupus Foundation of America, the Department of Defense’s Lupus Research Program revealed the recipients of the $10 million in grants that will be dedicated to new lupus research projects. To date, the Department of Defense has lent $76 million to lupus research initiatives—$55 million of which has come through the Lupus Research Program. Among the awardees were:
- Michael Cancro, PhD; Karen Gould, MEd, PhD; Xin Luo, PhD; and Chandra Mohan, MD, PhD, who all received Idea Awards
- Andreas Bader, PhD; Lucas Chang, PhD; Karen Gould, MEd, PhD; Michele Kosiewicz, PhD; Chandra Mohan, MD, PhD; Michelle Ormseth, MD, MSCI; and Carol Webb, PhD, who all received Impact Awards
- Andrea Knight, MD, MSc, in partnership with Natoshia Cunningham, PhD, received the Transformative Vision Award.
