The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) announced that Leith Zakraoui, MD, was presented with the 2024 Committee of National Societies (CNS) Medal at this year’s World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, and Musculoskeletal Diseases. The CNS Medal acknowledges Dr. Zakraoui’s contributions to the IOF, his participation in CNS activities, and his expansion of the Foundation’s message and outreach. Dr. Zakraoui currently serves as Professor at the University of Tunis School of Medicine, President of the Tunisian Osteoporosis Prevention Society, a member of the IOF’s Board of Governance and Committee of Scientific Advisors, and Chair of the IOF’s Regional Advisory Council for Africa. Throughout his career, he has worked to advance musculoskeletal disease research; encourage musculoskeletal health; and advocate for improved osteoporosis awareness, education, and patient care. “This prestigious recognition strengthens my resolve to work alongside my colleagues within the CNS to realize the immense potential inherent in [the] IOF’s mission. I look forward to dedicating my expertise to advocate among policymakers and to promote education and awareness within the region and beyond,” concluded Dr. Zakraoui.
