The ACR announced that Jan K. Richardson, PT, PhD, OCS, FAPTA, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Rheumatology Professionals (ARP) at the ACR Convergence 2023 annual meeting for her sustained contributions to the field of rheumatology and rheumatology health professionals. Dr. Richardson currently serves as Professor Emeritus at the Duke University School of Medicine and Chief Medical Officer of Medical Outcome Indicators—where she has pioneered early work in establishing reliable pain and disability measurements, validated an item bank in communities with stroke survivors, analyzed meta-analyses of human immunodeficiency virus therapies, and examined the efficacy of physical therapy in patients hospitalized with general weakness. “I am very humbled to receive this award, especially when I reflect on all the other people who have received this award before me, who have dedicated their lives to rheumatology, their patients, and service to the ACR and ARP,” concluded Dr. Richardson.
