The University of Miami announced that they have welcomed Cecilia P. Chung, MD, MPH, as Chief of the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology in the Department of Medicine at the Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Chung comes to the University of Miami after serving as Associate Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Known for her expertise in both the clinical and educational settings, she focuses her research on the pharmacogenomics of immunosuppressants, nonopioid analgesics, cardiovascular risk factors for patients with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and the safety of various therapeutics for veterans with rheumatic conditions. Dr. Chung hopes to use her new role to progress the understanding of rheumatic diseases through new research initiatives and enhance clinical care standards for this patient population.
