The Capture the Fracture Partnership—a collaboration between the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), academic institutions, and industry partners—has provided resources and activities that aid in preventing secondary fractures, improving the quality of fracture liaison services, and assist in postfracture care for patients with osteoporosis, according to a new review published by Javaid et al in Osteoporosis International. The partnership’s approach has been widely effective across 11 countries, largely as a result of its interconnected areas of activity—such as policy, coalitions, mentorship, and scalable solutions—multilanguage educational initiatives, resources to boost the quality of mentor support and patient experience, and stakeholder coalitions to accelerate secondary fracture prevention. In a companion press release from the IOF, Cyrus Cooper, MBBS, Professor of Rheumatology as well Director of the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre at the University of Southampton and President of the IOF, concluded: “[The Capture the Fracture Partnership] was able to deliver critical resources and activities. Through our concerted efforts … thousands of patients around the world have received the care they need to prevent life-changing fractures.”
