The Skin Cancer Foundation announced that it will be offering free skin cancer screenings as part of its 13th annual Destination Healthy Skin program. The Foundation hopes to raise awareness for the importance of skin cancer screening and preventive measures by providing the free screenings through mobile RVs, where dermatologists will perform evaluations and instruct patients on proper sunscreen application habits. Experts emphasized that when detected early, skin cancer may be easier to treat and less likely to result in mortality. Since 2011, the Destination Healthy Skin program has helped identify 11,000 skin cancers among 27,000 participants. Individuals who want to take part in the free screenings can visit any of the 30 locations in which the Destination Healthy Skin RVs will be visiting from May 2023—when the program launches during Skin Cancer Awareness Month—to September 2023. Access the list of locations and more information on the program.
