Alopecia has been a trending topic in recent years after Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed she had alopecia areata in 2018. Since then, many other celebrities have spoken up about their own experience with the condition. In an article published in Good Morning America, actress and singer Ashley Tisdale opened up about her alopecia diagnosis, saying that in her experience, stress causes her symptoms to worsen. Learning how to manage her stress through tools like meditation has helped to ease symptoms of alopecia. She also explained she has found relief through a treatment known as PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, an injection of a person’s own plasma taken from their own blood sample. In the past, PRP has been used more commonly to heal sports injuries, but some dermatologists offer it as an off-label potential treatment option for patients with alopecia. Ms. Tisdale concluded that she was hopeful that sharing her experience would help other patents with the condition know “they are not alone.”
