In an article published in People, reality television and social media personality Charli D’Amelio opened up about her experiences with acne and offered advice to those living with the condition. Ms. D’Amelio revealed that she had irritated and sensitive skin while filming her reality show and that she was unable to apply makeup because of her painful skin. She also shared that her skin-care routines were not effective at managing her acne. Although she felt insecure at the time, Ms. D’Amelio highlighted that she has come to accept her imperfections in an effort to help others feel more comfortable about their skin. She recently collaborated with the cosmetics brand CeraVe to help debunk acne myths and promote healthier skin-care habits such as using moisturizers to keep the skin hydrated and avoiding popping pimples immediately. She expressed hope that by embracing acne as a natural part of life, individuals can openly discuss the condition and feel less alone. “Everyone goes through something with their skin at one point. I’ve been through it, and I know how horrible it is at the moment, but I’m so happy … that I was open about it, because it makes me feel good knowing it might help someone else who’s feeling the same way,” Ms. D’Amelio concluded.
