In an article published in Vogue, skin-care experts weighed in on the new “Aged” filter from TikTok. The experts agreed that the filter may help make individuals aware of the potential effects of aging on the skin, teeth, and hair. The filter may also serve as a reminder to maintain a regular skin-care routine. Despite the filter’s potential for offering a glimpse into the future, the experts explained that it does not factor in skin color, genetics, or lifestyle and is likely not an accurate portrayal of how individuals will eventually look. To slow the aging process, they advised individuals to protect their skin from the sun, eat a well-balanced diet rich in antioxidants, exercise regularly, limit smoking and alcohol consumption, and achieve a healthy amount of sleep every night. They also recommended that Individuals cleanse their skin nightly, use retinoids or vitamin C serums, and consult their dermatologists about other antiaging procedures such as microneedling and Botox injections.
