Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman took to social media to warn individuals to apply sunscreen when going outdoors after revealing that he was awaiting the results of two biopsies for potential basal cell carcinoma recurrence, according to an article published in HuffPost. Though his biopsy results did come back negative, according to BBC.com, Mr. Jackman explained that he had been treated for skin cancer numerous times in the past and noted that individuals could reduce their risk of developing the disease in the first place by wearing sunscreen with a high SPF. Experts emphasized that though basal cell carcinoma may be associated with a lower risk of mortality, it can spread to the bones if untreated. “[P]lease wear sunscreen. It is just not worth it. No matter how much you want to tan, trust me, trust me, trust me,” Mr. Jackman reiterated. “Put some sunscreen on. You’ll still have an incredible time out there.”
