The Skin Cancer Foundation revealed the three recipients of its 2023 Research Grants, totaling $125,000. In the award program’s 40-year history, the Foundation has awarded over $2 million in funding for research related to the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer. Among the winners of the 2023 Research Grants were:

  • Goran Micevic, MD, PhD, Instructor of Dermatology at the Yale School of Medicine, who received the $50,000 Ashley Trenner Research Grant Award to determine the epigenetic drivers of durable responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors
  • Yuxuan Miao, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Ben May Department for Cancer Research at the University of Chicago, who received the $50,000 Todd Nagel Memorial Research Grant Award to investigate the impact of the skin microbiota on the development of squamous cell carcinoma
  • Riley McLean-Mandell, MD, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the UMass Chan Medical School, who received the $25,000 Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf Research Grant Award to evaluate the dermatologic immune components of patients who are immunosuppressed and have undergone organ transplants.
