The Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine announced that the Kimberly and Eric J. Waldman Department of Dermatology has received a $5 million bequest from Kenneth L. Edelson, MD. A Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine and a voluntary attending dermatologist at the Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. Edelson has served the Mount Sinai Health System for 14 years and hopes his planned gift to the department will fund the next generation of skin cancer research and treatment advances. Mount Sinai revealed that it expects to use the gift to finance an endowed professorship, a medical student scholarship, two annual lectureships in cosmetic dermatologic surgery and psoriasis, and a new dermatology exam room and patient room at its hospital. “It’s a way of giving back to what Mount Sinai has done for me … and I hope others will follow my lead,” concluded Dr. Edelson.
