The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) announced a new partnership with PA Consulting to establish a next-generation, qualified clinical data registry. The system will build on the success of the AAD’s DataDerm clinical data registry—which has gathered data on 54 million patient visits as well as helped dermatologists assess and enhance their quality of care, report information to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and facilitate innovative research. The new registry will use cloud-based technology to consolidate data from thousands of dermatology practices; streamline Merit-Based Incentive Payment System reporting and quality reporting; develop new member dashboards and practice management tools; aid dermatologists in optimizing their evidence-based practices; strengthen clinical decision-making and patient care; advance dermatologic research; and expand the registry’s applicability to novel research, education, and advocacy opportunities. “The [new] partnership … will provide our members with a better user experience with DataDerm. This new platform will allow us to be [nimbler] in how we can use and learn from the data to advocate for the specialty and improve patient care,” concluded Marta Van Beek, MD, MPH, FAAD, Chair of the DataDerm Oversight Committee at the AAD.
