Using the modified Delphi consensus method, an international group of hidradenitis suppurativa experts versed in dermatology and plastic and general surgery agreed on consensus definitions for surgical procedures used for patients with the condition. In the first Delphi round, the terms incision and drainage, deroofing, excision, lesional excision, and regional excision reached 91.0%, 76.0%, 80.0%, 86.0%, and 96.0% agreement, respectively. The second round expanded to a total of nine terms: excision, partial lesional deroofing, complete lesional deroofing, partial regional deroofing, complete regional deroofing, partial lesional excision, complete lesional excision, partial regional excision, and complete regional excision. Consensus in round two was even higher than round one, with agreement across the nine terms ranging from 82.1% to 92.3%.
